today has been one of those kick-me-in-the-ass kinda days.

first i failed my smog test. yay. but i still had to pay $20.

then i got caught in the rain in traffic.. yay.

then i got caught in the rain in traffic in downtown la. yay.

then my car (which is broken) heats up so much that i had to park in 2 different lots in order to inch my way to school. (seriously, ONE CAR PER GREEN LIGHT!) i was praying the entire time that my car didn't blow up.

then i finally get to school to break my nail. not the break-the-tip-off-but-it's-ok type, but the break-your-nail-down-to-the-skin-painful type.

THEN i find out that the barbri class for loyola is full and the closest one to me is WESTSIDE! i am not going to go to westside every morning for 3 months. helllll NO.

yay.

it has GOT to get better!!!!

the coolest thing we saw in chicago was actually a group of people, kneeling down to pray with a homeless man. it was quite beautiful.

-----

poop!
i really wanted US to beat mexico (no offense), just so japan didn't get another chance.

but then again, corea gets to beat japan again.
sweetest reminders..

i was riding the bus today and it was well-packed. there were random conversations going on all around me but a child's voice particularly caught my attention. he looked about 5 or 6 years old. he was talking to an asian lady next him and asking her if she would come to the fountain with him today. he seemed to know her very well and was saddened to hear that she had to go to work today and could not go to the fountain with him. he then began to ask people on the bus what their names were and where they lived. he asked, "do you live in downtown?" one of the men answered yes. the other, an older gentleman, said he lived far from here. so the boy asked, "do you live in san bernardino?" (what child knows where san bernardino is let alone know that it is far from downtown??) it was then i realized that he did not know the lady next to him but was inviting her on his little excursion with (what looked like) his gpa for the simple reason that he just wanted her to come.

he continued his conversations with the three individuals he had picked out on the crowded bus. but [too] soon it was his stop and he turned to say bye to everyone. before he left, he turned to older gentleman and kissed him on the cheek. when the guy didn't return the favor, the boy asked for a kiss and the older gentleman turned and kissed him on the cheek. the boy left the bus and it just seemed so much emptier.

if everyone reached out like this little boy, what a wonderful world we'd be living in.

Subject: Love mean?

[just an email fwd'ed to me.]

What does Love mean?
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8
year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined.

See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."
Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."
Chrissy -age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."
Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"
Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love! better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."
Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."
Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."
Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody . You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."
Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."
Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an imagination! )
Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I
just helped him cry"

today was a good day...

- for the first time, it didn't rain on my birthday~
- got to sleep in. keke~
- ditched work to spend time with an old and a new friend: eating [frikkin good dol sot bibimbap], drinking tea/coffee, and studying
- went to class, but didn't pay attention in either [and not feeling bad b/c it's my bday after all]
- a friend came to visit after class, even though it was late and she was tired and she has work tm and her hair was wet [she hates wet hair apparently]
- bf made me the cutest and sweetest card. [hehehe, yes, i'm rubbing it in]
- phone calls [from as far as sf and indiana], text msgs [even though some had far more important things on their mind], emails and ecards [from friends, co-workers, fellow students], and voicemails [from my 2-yr-old niece too!]
- a late im convo with someone [3 guesses] that [pretty much] ended with "EAT POOP!"
- knowing that somewhere out there, someone was [or will be] baking me a strawberry cheesecake!! [THANKS VERGIL!]
- the anticipation of going to see VIN DIESEL [courtesy of my bf] @ the jay leno taping tm. [omg, i can't wait!!!]

God, You are truly too good to me...

honestly, i am amazingly blessed.

thank you everyone~
